Session 1 (Sep 24, 2026) - Covered in Mud
Thoughts
This was kind of a manic start to a game. Me and Sieg were talking, like we do, through most of the day when he expressed a misgiving about how he might be turning into a reader of RPGs more than a player of them, given how his weekly Pathfinder 2e group constantly has him looking for other games that they're unwilling to try. Recently, after playing Star Wars Zero Company, he was in a Star Wars kick and kept looking at Star Wars RPG and getting frustrated at them and how they never seemed to replicate Star Wars in a way that seemed enjoyable to him.
Now, Sieg is my cousin - not by blood but by consideration - and my rotten soldier y'know, my sweet cheese, my Boy, and it had been years since we played together, so I just went "hey what if we Just Start Playing lad?" and he was chill with it, so after a brief discussion on which system to use, we did.
To my infinite surprise and delight, ol' Sieg, internationally famous for playing Pathfinder 2e, decided of his own volition to try out Primeval 2d6, after my many tales of how the Arden Vul Weasels campaign was going. Later that same day we hopped online and started just playing, and thus went my first complete session ever by voice, and it was really fun.
It's not that I had low expectations - I grew up playing with Sieg, it's only natural that we would have a similar style - but my boy had such a fluid and easy narration style that I half thought he was reading out of a module for a while there, I even asked him that after the session.
Everything went not only fine but Famously well, it was all quite oracular given how much he knows about Star Wars, and the easy-flow vibe of Primeval 2d6 matched that perfectly. We don't need damage dice to know that taking a lightsaber to a giant crab will result in giant crab rangoons, and it was extremely easy to visualise it all as happening on the Clone Wars cartoon which, even though I haven't really watched much of it, makes everything crystal clear.
It was a nice session of confirmation for me of just how little you actually need for a game so long as you know the damn world and universe, and I'm looking forward to the next ones. And it's like I told him: duets BLAZE past you. In an hour and a half we got in enough gaming that could very well have been 3 hours with a group (and he said we would have still been on the 1st round of the crab fight if it were Pathfinder 2e lol) so it's nice to go back to that too.
Recap
We start by discussing the general tone of the game. I know Sieg loves the Clone Wars cartoon but he says he won't shy away from veering more towards Andor with darker stuff, though clearly the cartoon will be the main touchstone for the campaign. I also finish rounding out my character: Vinna Halcard, a preppy upper class 20 year old woman from Naboo who's also a skilled diplomat.
At the end of my ceremony, noticing my master was nowhere around, the archivist of the Jedi Temple I was graduating in, Madame Jocasta, hands me a space tracking device and tells me a ship is waiting in the hangars to take me to my master, in another planet. Vinna is furious at this abuse but stays peaceful, tries inquiring about it with Jocasta, who basically goes "I was instructed not to say anything else. Goodbye forever." and leaves.
Vinna goes up to the rundown ass spaceship in the hangar and talks to the pilot, not bothering to ask his name, and they take the hyperspace to the planet of Kashyyykk. I ask if I know anything about this and after a successful roll, it appears this is a planet similar to Naboo except wilder, with the interior of the main continent being quite dangerous. Rich in natural resources but unexplored, very tropical, and it is apparently the main world of the Wookies. Hey, that's a Star Wars thing I know!
I climb down the ship to find myself in a port thing, not really a town, surrounded by massive trees and rocky mountains. On the pier, such as it is, I find a small team of 6 clones who very clearly would be under my command... playing cards. I approach and loudly clear my throat, and as I do I realise their armour is completely pristine - these men have likely never seen action.
As I do, another clone, one with more closely cropped military hair climbs down from the ship and introduces himself as Sgt. Trap, CO of this team and under my own command. I confirm my suspicions that these clones really were printed yesterday (finished training just last week) and are therefore lovable lummoxes.
Vinna, having sustained another indignity, puts them all in formation and orders them to march, following the tracker into the mangrove / restinga-like biome behind the port.
On the way we are assaulted by a huge crab who nabs one of the clones, the cowardly Zero-Half (PT: Zero Meia), but I order the men to spread out and surround it before chopping it in half with my pretty green lightsaber... at the cost of getting completely drowned in mud.
After throwing a brief tantrum and gritting her teeth, Vinna starts marching again without even waiting for the clones to get Zero-Half out of the huge pincer of the damn crab.
We wrapped up the session as we arrived in the treetop constructions of the Wookies. Zero-Half approached Vinna and offered a coarse, shitty towel to get at least 1% of the mud off, and she wordlessly took it. Next session: I'll finally meet the Jedi master.
