Session 22
In today's session, the Weasels employed the tactics of their spiritual ancestor, Ho Chi Minh: it doesn't matter how big your enemy is, only how deep your hole has been dug.
I've a headache at the moment so I don't want to write very much, but this session was basically the evidence that a mid-level D&D party can do anything they set their minds to through ingenuity and prep time. Eight 10 HD monsters and eight 2 HD ones, and they pulled the ol' Coyote trick on them.
They're also finishing up floor 2 and I'm wondering how the hell anyone levels up in Arden Vul if they're not counting XP for magic items, especially considering the toll for levelling up which AV assumes - and fixes at a higher price than baseline AD&D. I get why anyone would though, doing the accounting for the magic items usually takes me an hour after the session, as I have to track down which item Barton put in (which might be from the AV Appendix, the AD&D DMG, Unearthed Arcana, and today I found one that was on Dragon Magazine for some reason), how much it's worth in GP and XP, mark on my GM control that the item has been removed from the room, and mark on my GM control what the item actually is - as "identifying magical items" is another important D&D money-sink. In today's session, where they found 15 magic items not counting potions or scrolls, that took me a cool hour and a half which could be better spent laying on my bed going "auuughhh my yead my yead!!!"
I was quite pleased with the loredrop at the start of the game, even if it was about an hour of me talking to myself. Complicating Lady Alexia and the moving the Weasels up in the world is of interest to me.
Otherwise, I'm just glad Gerrilad had been ghoulified and was therefore too stupid to use his magical items, running fights with classed NPCs is a pain in the ass and I didn't want to memorise what every little magic item the chud had did.
