1dMany Brazilian Names Translated!
I have a post about Brazilian names and thought it would be funny to make that, but translate it to generate weird and 'off' English names.
Yeah I don't see the point either.
First, roll for name structure. It is very common for normal people to have 2 surnames, but only the wealthy bother with 3 surnames. More than 3 surnames is reserved only for aristocrats.
Name + Surname
Name + Name + Surname
Name + Name + Surname + Surname
Name + Name + Surname + Surname + Surname
Then roll for Name (you'll need an online dice roller for this). These names aren't adjusted for popularity, if you need a quick name always assume John or Joseph for men and Mary for women.
Feel free to substitute one of your surnames for "Son" or "Grandson" to indicate you have the same name as your father or grandfather. "The Second", "Junior", and "the Younger" are all acceptable too. Women don't really do this, but there's nothing stopping you.
Some Roman names have no English variant but have a French one, in those cases I've used them instead of the original because people were certainly naming their kids with French names due to generalised Francophilia.
